Brian Upward 2005 Prix Aurora Award Winner

My love of cooking started many years ago when I was a child growing up in a land far far away (ok it was Cormack, Newfoundland). I remember helping my Grandmother baking bread, and I wanting to help her all the time. Hmmm plus there was a time in which I decided I could make a cake and ended up baking a spoon in it (but that’s another story).

Nowadays I just use my breadmaker when I want to experiment with making bread (still have not found a good recipe yet), and Im a much better baker now than I was in those days, but it set the tone for years to come that I would be interested in cooking and baking.

Once I moved to Toronto I met up with Helenka (we adopted each other as brother and sister) and our culinary adventure began…
First it was selecting something out of the “President’s Choice Insiders Report” that is very popular here, but when there was nothing of interest for us to prepare we decided “hey we know how to cook so lets do it ourselves!”… and so it began an 18 plus year experience in creating something special for each other.
